World-renowned paleoclimatologist Dr. Lonnie Thompson will be the featured speaker at the next Upper Arlington Progressive Action (UAPA) meeting, Tuesday, September 25, at the Upper Arlington Public Library, 2800 Tremont Road, 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. Dr. Thompson will speak about global warming and climate change, and offer his observations and conclusions based on his 30 years of field research. Dr. Thompson’s research was featured in the 2006 documentary, An Inconvenient Truth. He is a Distinguished University Professor in the School of Earth Sciences and a Research Scientist in the Byrd Polar Research Center at The Ohio State University. His observations of glacier retreat over the last three decades confirm that glaciers around the world are melting and provide clear evidence that the warming of the last 50 years is now outside the range of climate variability for several millennia, if not longer.
The meeting is free and open to the public, and refreshments will be served.
