Upper Arlington's Mayor Frank Ciotola said this to NBC-4 on tape regarding Onyx:
"It’s a draw for people that tend to be in gangs. Black. Hispanic. Whatever. I don’t think it’s just black people being in gangs," Ciotola said.
And the Arlington Entertainment Complex pounces:
"...One need only review Columbus NBC-4’s interview of Council President Frank Ciotola about the change in “music format” to gain greater insight into what City Officials feared: Minorities. During the interview, Ciotola said, "It’s a draw for people that tend to be in gangs. Black. Hispanic. Whatever. I don’t think it’s just black people being in gangs,” An interesting choice of words, isn’t it? The statement suggests this issue has less to do with music and more to do with minorities and discrimination than any politician wants to claim. Sadly for the Council President, his words are forever memorialized in the digital world."
